We arrived late afternoon in the sun drenched city, the surroundings wrapped with a soft golden haze. My favourite time of the day, when even the most unsightly buildings take on a charm they don’t seem to have in any other light. It’s not often that I find myself in Johannesburg CBD, but there’s something about walking around just for the sake of it with no real agenda or constraints, simply soaking up the sights and sounds of a place nearby but quite unfamiliar. It’s an added bonus when you get to do this with a person who appreciates it too (and happens to be rather photogenic).
This is Richard Williamson, in the heart of the city he loves best.
